SEEKING THE LOST

“And He said to another, Follow Me! But he said, Lord, first allow me to go and bury my father.  (60)  Jesus said to him, Let the dead bury their dead, but you go and proclaim the kingdom of God”, Lk.9:59-60

I have seen today how an English boy disappeared five hours after having arrived in the Portuguese coast for a vacation. He and a friend were taking pictures on a dangerous spot and a huge wave took one of them while the other one survived holding on to the rocks. I instantly thought of this piece of Scripture above when I heard just how much there was being done to find the little boy’s body in the ruff sea. Then I thought, “Yes, people do a lot to recover a corpse, nothing towards living ones”. They searched for him the whole afternoon till the next day, knowing he was dead for his friend saw him drowning.

Could we come to pledge to spend the same honorable effort towards such as are still alive around us?

There is a hungry hell swallowing people up every day, for we cannot avoid people to die. We cannot save dead ones. Let's stop crying after they have died. Therefore, we have to live with it soberly and neglecting the dead if we have to, because of a more honorable work.
